Looks like a nice park to just hang out with friends at for a bit. I imagine it gets really crowded though, depending on when you go.

I definitely agree with the reviewer. I’m an enjoyer of Ghibli and therefore was excited, but I also wouldn’t call myself a die-hard Mononoke superfan. Maybe someone such as that would come to a completely different conclusion.

The Mononoke Village felt half baked? Like it was in stage 1 with more to come if that makes sense. If you don’t pay the ¥1,200 to make the rice cake it can be viewed in like 15-20 minutes.

As the reviewer notes, you are definitely going to want to see Ghibli's Grand Warehouse anyway so it’s nice little add-in I guess, if you look at it that way.

Yeah, in the end, the Mononoke Village is an opportunity to take more selfies and spend more money on food and merchandise.

Right next to it is an experimental farm run by the Aichi park, and I thought walking through there was nicer and more interesting than the Mononoke Village.

They are building the Valley of the Witches, which seems to a bigger area than the other smaller ones they've built so far, from what I could glance there will be multiple buildings and Howl's moving castle.

For me, the biggest letdown of the Ghibli Park was to not adopt the Ghibli Museum's policy of disallowing photos inside. This turns the park into a selfie relay, with everyone rushing to take pictures and posing for them. This changes the atmosphere of the place compared to the museum, and I think for the worse. There are other factors (size, number of people) but the museum has nice feeling of exploration and discovery, that gets relegated in the park by all the long lines to the next selfie spot.

I'm pleased to see Ghibli Park continuing to grow especially with the new addition of the Mononoke Hime theme. It's one of my 3 favorite Ghibli movies. My only reservation is the limited acreage available to the park for continued development. As stated in one of the other comments it tends to get crowded verry quickly at times.
