Wow, it's both interesting and funny to hear about KAF here on ANN, as I like her songs quite a bit. In particular Soshite Hana ni Naru (そして花になる)

Out of curiosity, could singers in nations outside Japan debut in the same manner and keep anonymity in the same way KAF has done? Because I haven't seen many, if any, case of a real life singer (say in the West) that has kept anonymity, they always show up live eventually.

There are few western vtubers that has done live concert the way KAF has like Hololive EN or Nijisanji EN. Korean have PLAVE and Isegye Idol both are the country's most popular virtual boyband and girlband, China also have their own share of virtual artists. So it's possible, but really expensive without the backing of specialized companies (Kamitsubaki where KAF belong is one of them) or being really REALLY rich.

They are many bands that could've done it, if they had entered the music scene with that in mind - Daft Punk and Gorillaz are the two biggest that come to mind; had Daft Punk had the masks from day 1 and worked under pseudonyms we wouldn't have known who they were until they revealed their faces during the farewell concert, so they could've been stars for 18 years without anyone knowing.

Another band that comes to mind is the Swedish duo Hooja, whose identities were only outed by our biggest paper a couple of months, expressly against their wishes.
