Hynes Convention Center - Boston, MA
With over 17,000 attendees this year (the official number is 17,236, not including all the comped passes), Anime Boston remains the largest anime convention in the Northeast. Riding on the tail-end of the gaming convention PAX East, which was in town the previous weekend, Anime Boston still brought in record numbers of fans. Traditionally held during Easter weekend, the event arrived on a particularly busy weekend for the city, with baseball season opening on Sunday between rival Red Sox and Yankees. Remarkably, even with all the Sahhx fans just two subway stops away, the Hynes Convention Center remains one of the best mid-size convention sites in the country, allowing attendees not only easy commuter access to the event, but also relative isolation from the rest of the city. The Hynes is smack dab in the middle of the city, and attached to a busy mall, but one would barely be able to tell - step one block outside of the area, and almost no traces of Anime Boston could be seen, aside from the occasional cosplayer.
